Glass fusing has been around since the middle ages, one of the more recognised being Murano glass which has been used for centuries by glass craftsmen in Venice.

Fusing glass is achieved by slowly heating two or more pieces of glass so that they begin to melt and then slowly cooling in a controlled way so the pieces are 'fused' together. This form of glass art offers countless designs to be achieved each of which will by its nature be unique. Utilising products like frit (a fine powder up to coarser grains of coloured glass) and stringers (long thin canes of coloured glass) many different patterns and effects can be achieved. Adding to this inclusions, which are materials trapped between the layers of glass when it fuses. These add texture and character to the glass. This is a very fluid form of glass art and really allows our creative minds run away with our selves.
