Our decorative mirrors and glass panels are made by utilising the same materials that the double glazing industry has been using for years. These include adhesive lead strip, colour films & glass bevels.
There are several manufacturers of these products but in our opinion the superior of these is Regalead©, for that reason we only use Regalead© products in our mirrors & glass panels.
The lead profile is 99.5% pure lead modified with Antimony so it will behave just like traditional lead and will naturally darken over time. The lead adheres to the glass using a high performance acrylic, pressure sensitive adhesive ensuring a long life span. Lead profiles have a service life in excess of 10 years. Natural lead is silver in colour which will discolour over time to the dark colour most people associate with lead. This can take several years and our mirrors and panels can be supplied with the lead left natural, but as a standard we darken all our lead work by means of a water based chemical Regasheen © .
The colours and textures that appear in the glass are provided by Regalead© art glass film. These stain glass art films are guaranteed not to fade, crack or delaminate with a estimated life expectancy of over 25 years. With a choice of over 350 colours and textures most ideas can be realised.
Bevels are precision made from 5mm float glass that bevels down to a 1.8mm edge so they fit precisely with the lead profiles. Bevels are applied to the glass surface by means of a UV activated adhesive which provides a crystal clear, rock solid and permanent bond.
